Decision: Application by the Claimants to the Alberta Land Compensation Board pursuant to the Expropriation Act, R.S.A. 2000, c. E-13, for an order determining interest and costs payable to the Claimants pursuant to an earlier compensation award. At the outset of the cost review hearing, the costs claimed totalled $595,269.21. During the hearing, updated accounts were presented for an additional claim of $26,015.09. The total amount claimed was $621,284.30. The Authority agreed to pay some of the costs totalling $46,746.91. The items in contention were accounts for legal services, land development consulting services, lobbying services and appraisal services. After consideration of these accounts, the Board awarded 100% of the cost for legal services, 50% of the cost for land development consulting services, nothing for the lobbying services, 75% of the appraisal services provided by two firms and 100% of the appraisal services provided by a third firm. The actual amount awarded was left to the parties and is not set out in the award. The Board also awarded interest on the land compensation award and the cost award based on the rate paid to investors in 90 day T-bills, compounded annually.
